American veteran drag racer Scott Kalitta died Saturday after apparently winning a qualifying race in the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals taking place in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Kalitta had a great start and was about to win the race, but his Toyota Solara Funny Car burst into flames. It appears that the car was traveling at almost 300 miles per hour at the time, and his engine exploded. Subsequently, the body flew off as the car was engulfed by flames. Although he registered a poor starting position, Kyle Busch
won on Sunday the NASCAR Sprint Cup Toyota/Save Mart 350, at the Infineon
Raceway. This is 23-year-old Busch’s first win in seven road course starts and
the series-best fifth of the Sprint Cup season. In the 112 lap race with

The Olympic Games are close and records begin to break as
athletes compete for the spots in the sporting event of the year.
Monday was a day of mixed reactions for Natalie Coughlin, as
she watched Hayley McGregory break the 100-meter backstroke record with a swim
of 59.15.
And what started as an “make top 16” objective in the
preliminary competition for the upcoming Olympics ended as a quest for keeping
a record that she has held for eight years.
