Yesterday was the official release of Nokia’s new smartphone
named N97, featuring a touchscreen with a 3.5-inch display and a full Qwerty
keyboard. This represents Nokia’s effort to step into the smartphone segment
mainly run by Apple’s iPhone and Research in Motion’s Blackberry, and the
company decided to take certain distinctive elements from each, in order for
its device to appeal to a bigger public.

Up until yesterday, Apple’s Web site contained a support
page with a recommendation for users to purchase antivirus solutions for their
Macs. The page disappeared on Tuesday, as the company decided that the
information was not useful.
"We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it
was old and inaccurate," Apple spokesman Bill Evans, explained for
Macworld. "The Mac is designed with built-in technologies that provide
protection against malicious software and security threats right out of the
box,” he added.

Nokia decided to be part of the touchscreen frenzy and came
out earlier today with its new N97 smartphone that features a large screen with
touch capacities and also a full Qwerty keyboard. The N series demanded a boost
in order to get the public’s interest going again and this seemed the best way
to do it.

On December the 2nd, Nokia announced its flagship device for
the next year. Loaded with the newest technologies, the N97 represents Nokia’s
first real attempt to compete with Apple’s iPhone. The phone sports features
that already are available and sought-after in competitors’ devices, but the
Finnish smartphone manages to solve iPhone’s lack of a hardware keyboard.
Being fit with the latest touchscreen Symbian OS, the Nokia

Brazilian Web start-up Power.com has revealed they were planning to become a portal via
which Internet users would be able to access the social networking sites they
had accounts on, without having to visit them separately.
Backed up
by the venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson and technology
investor and analyst Esther Dyson, Power.com will aggregate users’ social
network updates, e-mail, instant messages and contact lists, so as to allow
people to better and more rapidly surf their online social lives.
