More than 5000 men from around the world braved physical and mental obstacles in a UK race to be named the Tough Guy of the year.
The men had to battle an eight-mile (12.9km) cross-country run, then face an horrific two-mile obstacle course. Before the competitors could start the race, they had to sign their own "death warrant" which is a disclaimer that read: "It's my own bloody fault for being here". As always, the emergency services were kept busy dealing with serious cases of hypothermia, exhaustion and bruised egos.
