People went to lakes and waterways across Thailand to celebrate the picturesque full-moon festival on Wednesday night (12 November).
The government had issued a warning about sabotage and possible attacks the day before as anti-government protesters continue their vigil against the government.
But the threat of violence didn't stop thousands celebrating Loi Krathong - the dazzling festival of light traditionally held on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month.
In Thailand's second largest city of Chiang Mai, people released thousands of balloon-like lanterns called "Yee Peng" which are propelled upward by the heat from the flat, waxy candle at their base.
