The low-budget Indian drama "Slumdog Millionaire" garnered 11
nominations at the BAFTA film awards, building on its
success at the Golden Globes and giving it a further boost ahead of the Oscars
next month.
It was tied at the top with "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,"
starring Brad Pitt, followed by Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight" which won
nine nominations and Clint Eastwood's drama "Changeling," which won eight.
Up and coming British actresses Hayley Atwel and Gemma Arterton announced the award nominations at
BAFTA in London.
BAFTA Chairman, David Parfitt praised the nomination shortlist for
having solid representation from both independent and big budget films.
