Polls may fail to take into account the issue of race and Barack Obama's historic role as the first African-American to win a major political party's nomination. According to the Reuters/Zogby poll, Barack Obama now has a statistically insignificant 1-point edge over John McCain among independents -- an indication that America will once again be dealing with a very close election.
