Mortgage bailout inspires Wall St.

Investors went on the biggest stock buying spree in a month as the government bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac offered hope the credit crisis will ease. The Dow ended with a 289-point rally to 11,510. The S&P 500 gained 25 points to 1,267. The Nasdaq jumped 13 points to 2,269. Crude oil prices rose 11 cents to $106.34 a barrel.Conway Gittens reports.
