Promising to be bloodier and more realistic than other combat sports, mixed martial arts is attracting an increasing number of athletes and fans in the Philippines. Proponents of mixed martial arts claim it's the ultimate spectator sport. Fighters combine as many styles of martial arts as they can muster to defeat opponents. Bouts are brutal and bloody. Attacking a fallen opponent is allowed, and the referee steps in only when a fighter taps out in pain or when serious injuries are evident - and that doesn't include a broken nose, apparently.Helen Long reports.
