A classic David-and-Goliath battle is widening in Georgia as Russian forces in control in pro-Moscow South Ossetia appear headed for Georgia proper. Before late-breaking news of a Georgian ceasefire offer, Russian troops and tanks were crossing into tiny Georgia, bombing targets outside the disputed enclave of South Ossetia. The rapid escalation of the crisis has alarmed the United States, Georgia's main ally, which has condemned Moscow's "dangerous and disproportionate" action. Fighting in the region began Friday when Georgia launched an offensive to regain control of South Ossetia from separatists. Russia responded with air and artillery strikes. Susan Flory reports.Soundbite: Shota Utiashvili, Georgian Interior Ministry Spokesman.
