Republican John McCain cast himself as an independent-minded reformer on Thursday and said he had the scars to prove it. Unlike Barack Obama-- who delivered a hard-hitting convention speech last week in Denver-- McCain refrained from much direct criticism of his Democratic opponent. Jon Decker reports.
