Mafia's grip heightened in Italy

Mafia organisations are using the economic downturn to their advantage by helping troubled 'clean' companies, and using them to recycle dirty money. Mafia groups have always targeted weaker elements of society and for the illegal immigrants -many of whom have entered the country by boat- it is almost impossible to attain a 'legal' existence, say the anti-racket association.
