A road between Kashmir's Doda and Kishtwar districts in India has been washed away by heavy rains, cutting off residents in the area.
Witnesses said the river gradually swamped the road. Panic-striken locals left their homes for the safety of higher ground. Experts had earlier cautioned that there was a danger the twin districts could become submerged if water levels rose any higher. India is building a dam on the Chenab river, which flows from Indian's Kashmir into Pakistan but Islamabad has rejected the design. They say it violates a water-sharing treaty from 1960.Hayley Platt reports.
