On a day when thousands more Americans lost their jobs, Timothy Geithner won Senate approval to serve as U.S. Treasury Secretary despite questions raised during his confirmation process about failure to pay some taxes. A little more than an hour after the Senate vote, the 47-year-old former president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden and alongside President Barack Obama.
