Over 200 exhibitors are showcasing new toys at the 56th annual London Toy Fair but recession fears are clouding the outlook for 2009.
The British Toy & Hobby Association (BTHA ) kicked off the four-day event by announcing seven percent growth in last year's toy sales in Britain. Despite the growth in sales volume, the BTHA said the value of the toy industry in Britain shrank by two percent in 2008.
Looking ahead to the rest of 2009, nostalgia looks likely to be a more influential force in many parents' purchasing decision.
