A deal has been signed for Russian gas passing through Ukraine for European consumption. But supplies to Ukraine remain cut off.
Ukraine said it had signed a three-way deal with Russia and the European Union that should enable a resumption of Russian gas supplies to Europe.
Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko told reporters the deal would allow monitoring of gas flows via Ukraine to Europe, whose gas was cut-off last week amid a price dispute between Kiev and Moscow, plunging large parts of Europe into a mid-winter energy crisis.
