Debate opens with U.S economy

Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain promised at their second debate to help middle class Americans fearful about their futures facing what Obama called the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. The presidential rivals met for their second debate at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. With four weeks until the November 4 election, the debate offers McCain one of his last chances to recast a presidential race that has been shifting toward Obama in the last few weeks.
