Dozens of protesters blocked a border crossing into the Gaza Strip in protest over the failure to reach a deal on the release of a captive Israeli soldier.
Protesters called on Israel to seal a deal to release corporal Gilad Shalit, who was abducted by Gaza militants in June last year. The Islamist Hamas movement, which controls Gaza, has been holding talks in Cairo with Egyptian officials on a deal to free the Israeli soldier in exchange for Palestinians jailed in Israel. But talks have run into difficulties over the prisoner Hamas wants freed, which include a Hamas leader jailed in Egypt as well as hundreds of convicted killers.Helen Long reports.
