A woman held hostage by her family in Bangladesh will return to Britain to resume her medical career after a ruling a Dhaka court. The 33-year-old Bangladeshi-born doctor was held hostage by her family in Dhaka for four months while they plotted her forced marriage. Friends allege she was beaten and drugged by her family, who confiscated her credit cards and passport. In October, the British Foreign Office issued a protection order for Dr Abedin under a new law that allows British courts to prevent someone from being forced into marriage. Helen Long reports.
