The BBC has come under mounting pressure to screen a humanitarian appeal for victims of the war in Gaza, after other UK terrestial broadcasters announced they will show it.
The BBC said the appeal by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), a coalition of 13 leading UK aid agencies, would compromise the impartiality of its coverage. Politicians, aid groups and church leaders have written to the public service broadcaster to try to persuade it to reconsider its decision. Thousands of protesters joined a demonstration outside one of the BBC's London offices.Helen Long reports.
