Australia rejects a request from the United States to resettle Guantanamo detainees. The request to resettle a group of detainees was made by the United States last month in Cuba. It was the second request of its kind and was rejected by Canberra on Friday (January 2nd). Around 255 men are still being held at Guantanamo. The suggestion that detainees would be returned to Australia has horrified many citizens. Canberra was one of the strongest supporters of Bush's war on terror under Prime Minister John Howard. Basmah Fahim reports.
