Champion cyclist Lance Armstrong met with cancer sufferers in Australia on Monday (January 19) giving hope and support to them in fighting in the disease
The 37-year-old Texan is in the country for a week long cycling race 'Tour Down Under', his first professional tour since his retirement after his final Tour de France victory in 2005.
Armstrong told cancer sufferers and their families that they shouldn't give up in their battle against cancer. Cancer sufferers listening to the speech said they were inspired by Armstrong's comments.
An estimated crowd of 138,000 people lined the track to watch the Tour Down Under on Sunday (January 18), where Armstrong finished the 51km race in 64th place out of the 133 starters. Armstrong has repeatedly said the main reason for his comeback was to promote cancer awareness but has not ruled out the possibility of an eighth Tour de France win.
