The first U.N. relief convoy has arrived in the rebel-captured zone of east Congo on a mission to help tens of thousands of civilians displaced by recent fighting. The convoy, carrying aid workers and medical supplies was escorted by U.N. troops. It crossed the front line in Democratic Republic of Congo's eastern North Kivu province to reach the rebel-held town of Rutshuru. But fears are growing for the well-being of 50,000 displaced people who have disappeared from refugee camps around Rutshuru. The refugees are thought to be hiding in the bush after fleeing attacks by renegade Tutsi soldiers. Helen Long reports.
