Pop music’s darling The Jonas Brothers will do some patriotic
singing this Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, at halftime during the Dallas Cowboys’
game against the Seattle Seahawks.
The three musical brothers, Dallas natives as it happens, said they considered
it an “incredible honor” to perform at halftime.
They will also bring their singing talent to the Salvation
Army’s Red Kettle Christmas Campaign, as the charity strives to raise more money
for nearly 29 million Americans in need for food, clothes and toys at this time
of year. The campaign runs nationally through Christmas Eve on December 24.
The Salvation Army’s Lieutenant-Colonel David Jeffrey said,
in making the announcement, that no other artists are more in touch with today’s
American youth and that this is an excellent opportunity for younger
generations to learn about the charity’s efforts and hopefully lend a helping
hand.
The Jonas Brothers, Kevin, 20; Joe, 18; and Nick, 15, have
become a household name with their good boys image, infectious music and
likeable personas. They released their first album, “It’s About Time,” in 2006
and their self-titled sophomore album last August.
Their third studio effort, “A Little Bit Longer,” dominated
the Billboard chart this summer, becoming one of the year’s best-sold albums.
They have toured with Miley Cyrus on her sold-out Hannah
Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds concert tour, opening for the
Disney superstar from October 18, 2007 to January 9, 2008.
They followed this with a tour of their own, The Look Me in the Eye Tour, opening
for Avril Lavigne in The Best Damn Tour and The Burning Up Tour.
Fans can look forward to a new video from the pop-rock trio,
as “Lovebug” debuts on Oct. 15. The brothers first gave audiences a taste of
the song at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, when they revealed that the video
was inspired by 2004 romance “The Notebook.” They found inspiration for the track
itself in Academy Award-nominated comedy drama “Juno” and The Beatles’ music.
