According to the company’s own statement,
it seems that the federal court of Alabama and the federal court of Massachusetts
had ruled in favor of iRobot and found Robot FX guilty of having knowingly infringed
on two iRobot patents and of having violated fair trade practices and destroyed
evidence, respectively.
The United
States’ Courts in Massachusetts
and Alabama
have both entered judgments in favor of iRobot, thus settling all disputes with
Jameel Ahed, a former iRobot employee, and his own company, Robotic FX. Jameel
Ahed was filed against two lawsuits in August, when iRobot accused him and his
company of patent infringement and of trade misappropriation, respectively.
In the patent infringement
lawsuit, the United States’ Court for the District of Northern Alabama ruled
that Robotic FX had knowingly infringed on two iRobot patents, while in the
other suit, the United States’ District Court for the District of Massachusetts
decided that Jameel Ahed and his company misappropriated iRobot’s proprietary
and confidential information, violated fair trade practices and destroyed
evidence.
According to Burlington-based
iRobot, Robotic FX was set to be dissolved and certain of its residual assets
will be retained by iRobot. Jameel Ahed has been prohibited for five years from
participating in any competitive activities in the robotics industry.
