iPhone Gets “Spore Origins”

Electronic Arts Mobile announced that “Spore Origins”, which is an original game designed for Apple’s iPhone and iPod gadgets, has been slated for release this month. Moreover, a list of nine other games, Yahtzee Adventures, EA Mini Golf, Lemonade Tycoon, Mahjong, Monopoly: Here & Now The World Edition, SimCity, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, Need for Speed Undercover and The Sims 3, are in development for both platforms, although the release date is yet to be known.

“Spore Origins” makes full use of the iPhone’s bulit-in accelerometer as players will need to tilt and turn in order to escape the ooze and work their way up the evolutionary ladder.

Vice president of Worldwide Studios at EA Mobile Travis Boatman, said that the devices’ capabilities would enable players to customize their creatures’ textures, shapes and body parts and also to choose how their destiny unfurls. Both the iPhone and the iPod game feature two gameplay modes and 35 levels.

„Spore Origins” is based on the Mac and PC game Spore, which was designed by Will Wright. Players can control the evolution of a species from a unicellular organism to an intelligent and social creature. The game was released September 5 in Europe, Japan and South America and is scheduled for release on September 7 in North America and Asia Pacific territories.
