It’s not Christmas, but tt’s definitely a shopping season
for websites. Just few days ago Wall Street Journal reported about acquisition talks
between social-networking giant MySpace and photo-sharing site Photobucket.com.
But it seems like Photobucket.com it’s not the only website for sale.
The same Wall Street Journal, quoting an unnamed source,
reported today that eBay may be very close to buy StumbleUpon, a social book-marking
site. The value of the deal may be close to $75 mi, but neither one of the
companies didn’t confirm the rumor.
StumbleUpon uses a referral system which allows users to
recommend websites or individual pages. According to speculations, eBay may be
interested by the technology behind these features. Also, the traffic of
StumbleUpon rose sharply in the last three months.
Another social bookamrking website, del.icio.us was acquired
by Yahoo one year ago. Â
