After he was accused of trying to board on a plane with a loaded gun on Monday, and failing to show up on time in court on Wednesday, rapper Yung Joc wanted to clear his name, so on Thursday he issued a statement where he states that he respects the law and that he expects to resolve this situation.

On Sunday Yung Joc, Jasiel Robinson on his real name, was arrested around 6:20 a.m. at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport after a semiautomatic handgun was found in his carry-bag. He was charged for carrying a weapon. Joc told officers that he had no idea that the gun was there.

Monday he was released on a bail of $50,000. When he failed to appear in court on Wednesday Municipal Judge Michael John Ryan issued a warrant for his arrest, but later he revoked it as the rapper showed up after seven hours.

In the statement he released through his lawyers Joc says: "I have the utmost respect for the laws of this country and would never deliberately commit an act that would jeopardize my freedom, my family, or my career,” TMZ.com reports.

Joc continued to say: "I'm proud to be a citizen of America, where we are taught to believe that every person is afforded the presumption of innocence. That being said, I have full respect for the judicial system and its due process. I look forward to resolving this situation and moving forward to a positive and prosperous 2008. Best wishes to you and your families in the New Year. Thank you."

Joc didn’t enter a plea on Wednesday. The preliminary hearing is due January 25.

The charge against the Atlanta-based rapper might carry a sentence up to 18 months.

Yung Joc sold 1 million copies of his debut album “New Joc City” making him the biggest hip-hop star in 2006. His song “It’s Going Down” was nominated at the Grammy. In August he released his second album “Hustlenomics.”
