The 3-year-old boy named after famous Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, together with his two younger sisters, were removed from their New Jersey home and placed in state custody, police said.
According to Sgt. John Harris of the Holland Township Police Department, Adolf Hitler Campbell and his sisters, 1-year-old JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and 8-month-old Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, were taken from their Holland Township, N.J., home on Friday by the state's Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS).
Citing confidentiality reasons, Police, DYFS officials and a court spokeswoman refused to disclose any information on the case, including the exact reasons why the children were taken from their family, but a child protection official indicated it was not because of the children's names.
Harris said that even though the mother appeared to be distraught to have her children taken away from her, she didn’t attempt to stop the child protection officials.
"Everything went smooth with the exception of the mother reacting as a normal mother would if you took her children away," Harris said, "She knew not to push the matter and decided to cooperate with DYFS."
Harris said Friday wasn't his first visit to the Campbell home.
"We've been out there before," he said. "It hasn't been for anything with the kids. (Heath Campbell)'s always been very good with the kids. His kids seem to mean a lot with him. His relationships? That's something I can't comment on."
The parents, Heath and Deborah Campbell, were scheduled to make a court visit Tuesday, but the appearance was postponed.
Last month, the family made headlines when Heath Campbell complained after a supermarket chain refused to write his son's full name on a birthday cake.
