You Tube To Show Full Films From MGM

American media company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Incorporated (MGM) and Google-owned video sharing website You Tube have recently clinched a deal entailing that several full-length films distributed by MGM would be available for watching on the aforementioned website.

MGM Studios have decided to start the partnership by offering You Tube users full episodes of their „American Gladiators” program, a televised competition that matched up amateur athletes both against each other and against the show’s own „gladiators.”

The program aired from 1989 to 1996, but it was restarted this year, with the series now airing throughout the United States on NBC, while various episodes are available for download via Apple Incorporated’s iTunes Service.

Moreover, the media company has announced they would be posting full-length action movies on Youtube, as well, including „Bulletproof Monk” and „The Magnificent Seven.”

All the films are set to be free to watch by users and they are scheduled to feature ads alongside them as Internet surfers are enjoying the thrill of full productions on the popular website.

The partnership is aimed at rendering Youtube bring in more profit for search giant Google, since revenue from the video sharing website that debuted online back in 2005 has been below par ever since.

You Tube has also clinched deals with independent studio Lionsgate and broadcast network CBS, which this month, have kicked off their posting of videos on the website by offering full-length episodes of „Star Trek” and „Beverly Hills 90210.”

Over the past few months, You Tube has brought some improvements to their site, having introduced new features such as a theater view button that darkens the area surrounding the viewing screen in order to enhance the quality of the video and the VideoID system. The latter allows companies to pinpoint unauthorized clips of their own media material that have been posted on Youtube, giving them the option to either remove the videos or sell advertisements alongside them.
