The largest database of user-uploaded videos, YouTube, has announced that it collaborated with Sony and Nintendo to bring you its video content through their gaming console directly over your TV set .

The new service is called YouTube TV and all you have to do is access the webpage www.youtube.com/tv through your embedded browser of Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3. The link is available for access only from these consoles and it displays a YouTube window with a new user interface, consisting of features, such as enlarged text and easy navigation commands. Google's subsidiary stated that the new layout of the webpage aims to provide an overall intuitive browsing experience.

The new service also includes other features, such as the option of autoplaying all related files of the current video or other videos from the search results. Moreover, you can also choose to play video content in full screen automatically, hence saving effort to cope with the remote control.

Some users complained that the new user interface used in YouTube TV isn’t available for computers connected to the internet. However, the User Agent Switcher, which is a web browser plug-in, will make YouTube think that you are accessing the TV service from a gaming platform. This little application is especially useful for Mac Mini users who keep their TV connected to the computer all the time.

It is clear that YouTube’s decision to launch a TV-dedicated video service is an attempt to rival Netflix, which has already bundled its proprietary video-streaming platform to the Xbox.
