The Internet has influenced digital devices quite a lot and lately most of the gadgets use the web in one way or another. The Internet has also had quite an effect on television and YouTube is here to prove it, as the popular video streaming site has opened its content for those who prefer using a TV viewing YouTube’s content.
There have been some changes to how the site works in order to make the entire experience more TV-friendly and easier to control using the simple commands available on a remote control. YouTube has enlarged the text and has simplified navigation a lot, in order to minimize the computer interaction usually needed.
YouTube is available through Sony’s PS3 and Nintendo’s Wii video game consoles, and is currently running in beta in 22 countries and 12 languages. This all sounds quite ingenious but there is a small problem. Television is based on professional footage, while the videos uploaded n YouTube are mostly done by amateurs.
Why would anyone prefer watching anything on YouTube on their TV screens, rather than choosing from a quite large selection of TV stations or other devices that can plugged in to a TV set in order to run movies?
It has been announced that after the beta testing is done more features will be added and the service will be able to run on other devices than the two video game consoles. The success of this whole thing is hanging on how well it will be advertised and the overall quality of the service.
