Yahoo Unveils iPhone App at CTIA

Yahoo unveiled at the CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas trade show its new line of mobile apps for the iPhone 3G and other smart phones. 

 
First and foremost, the Yahoo Messenger app - deemed "the industry's leading messaging experience"  by Yahoo - is now downloadable from the Apple App Store and features like sending messages, files, emoticons, adding contacts and changing status are available. 
 
Yahoo Mobile is another applications unveiled by Yahoo at CTIA Wireless and it’s basically a home page for phones, a portal to online content such as social networks, news, Yahoo e-mail, stocks, weather, sports, horoscopes, and RSS feeds and several other. Yahoo Mobile is available for more than 300 handsets. 
 
The apps are accessible through the cell phones with Web browsers and can be also accessed through Apple’s App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch, according to Yahoo spokesperson Kate Sternberg, TechNewsWorld reported. 
 
The Yahoo Mobile for the Web service is accessible from more than 300 handsets that pack mobile browsers such as Nokia, Research In Motion, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Motorola, as well as Windows Mobile phones. 
 
"Consumers around the globe are demanding compelling mobile Internet services that offer increased personalization," said David Ko, senior VP of Yahoo Mobile, in a statement. 
 
Yahoo Inc. sees its strategy of developing mobile features as a key point of focus in its survival in a market against other giants such as Google, Microsoft and several other IT companies.
