Xbox 360 to Beat PS3, Microsoft Claims

After being the winner of the former two gaming consoles generations’ battle, Sony’s dominance over Microsoft is finally over. Or at least this is what the Redmond based company thinks that the moves it has recently made to further promote Xbox 360 will accomplish for it.

The announcement was made at the E3 conference that takes place this week in Los Angeles. During a press conference that was held Monday, the company officially announced the new strategies that it hopes to put Xbox 360 above Sony’s PlayStation 3.

It seems that the company will focus more on turning the console into a device that the whole family will use. Microsoft decided to shed more light on the Xbox 360’s capabilities of playing movies and music and showing pictures. The company announced that it has signed a deal with Netflix, a company that sells and rents movies online, to make 10,000 new movie and TV show titles available on Microsoft’s Xbox Live online service.

Together with this, Microsoft also confirmed the new console model that will benefit of a 60 GB hard disk and that will replace the Xbox 360 Pro model, which featured 20 GB of storage space. The company said that the new model was designed so that users will be able to store more HD video content on their consoles.

Since the release of the Xbox 360, Microsoft managed to sell about 20 million units worldwide compared with the 14 million PS3s that Sony sold. However, since the beginning of the year, PS3 has almost constantly outsold its Microsoft rival, showing that it is able to recover the difference that was mainly created by the fact that Microsoft released its console almost a year ahead of Sony.
