Actor Scott Siegel, who played a steroids dealer in the critically acclaimed Mickey Rourke movie “The Wrestler,” has been taken into custody by federal drug task force agents following a brief high-speed car chase Wednesday night in the New York suburbs.
The 34-year-old actor faces federal charges including attempting to distribute steroids and assaulting a federal agent, according to a complaint filed in federal court. His bail was reportedly denied due to strong evidence against him and prior conviction on similar charges.
Following Siegel’s arrest, federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents found the actor’s stash containing 1,500 bottles of anabolic steroids, and more than $100,000 in cash.
On the night of his arrest, Siegel was being tailed by police when he was spotted in a car parked outside his parents' home in the gated Eastchester townhouse community of Lake Isle, Westchester County.
Agents moved in to apprehend Siegel after witnessing him picking up a package, but Siegel drove away and in the pursuit that followed, smashed through a fence and rammed three police cars and two DEA cars. He took off on foot but was quickly seized by the authorities.
This is not the first time Siegel is having trouble with the law for drug-related incidents. In 1999, the actor was arrested for distributing steroids, ketamine and Ecstasy and was sentenced to three years in prison. He was released in 2003.
