After a lengthy relationship of two decades and three children, Woody Harrelson and his girlfriend made it legal on Sunday, the actor’s representative announced on Tuesday.
The 47-year-old former “Cheers” star tied the knot with his ex-assistant Laura Louie on the island of Maui during an intimate ceremony that was attended by family and friends, representative Ina Treciokas said in a statement.
Guests included Owen Wilson, Willie Nelson and Sean Penn, while singer Alanis Morissette held a swift performance at the event, according to Us Weekly.
Woody Harrelson and his 43-year-old fresh wife, who have been together since 1990, have three daughters together, 2-year-old Makani Ravello, 12-year-old Zoe Giordano and 15-year-old Denni Montana, whom they called their “goddess trilogy” after the birth of their youngest child.
The couple, who live in Maui, often write about their life together on VoiceYourself.com, a Web site they co-founded and that promotes organic living. Woody Harrelson has written in a post that VYS and his three daughters were “the ultimate product of my life’s work.”
This is not the actor’s first marriage. In 1985, he wed Nancy Simon, daughter of playwright Neil Simon, in Tijuana. Their marriage, however, lasted for only 10 months, although reports at the time said they had intended to divorce the following day, but the storefront marriage/divorce parlor was closed when they had returned to it.
Woody Harrelson, an Emmy Award-winning actor, earned an Oscar nomination for his role in the 1996 film “The People vs. Larry Flynt.” His recent screen credits include “No Country for Old Men,” “Semi-Pro” and “Seven Pounds.”
