Winter Storm Warnings Issued For Many Counties

This morning a winter storm warning was issued, with low temperatures over most of New Jersey and conditions of sleet and freezing rain.

A Winter Storm Warning was issued by the National Weather Service for Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Wayne, and Wyoming counties from Friday night to Saturday morning.

An ice storm warning is issued for Seneca, Steuben, and Yates counties.

According to meteorologist Marty Snyder, Friday morning we can expect sleet and freezing rain. By late afternoon it can change into rain due to temperatures that will rise.

On the streets and sidewalks is reported ice.

In Shortsville, Gates, N.Y. it was reported a phone outage due to the weather that affected almost 600 customers of Windstream Telephone.

According to company officials, the water leaked from a roof on their equipment, and they hope they will manage everything by Friday afternoon, 13wham.com reports.

Dave Damelio, manager of the Greater Rochester International Airport, said that there weren’t any problems with the morning flights, but around 8:15 a.m. there was a halt in traffic for about 25 minutes because of the freezing rain.

According to forecasters, rain should fall in most of New Jersey. Most probably it will start as a wintry mix in northern regions with sleet, snow and freezing rain for most part of the morning.

There are possible gusts of winds of 25 to 35 miles.

Due to possible accidents in New Jersey State Police Capt. Al Della Fave announced that the Interstate 80 near Mount Olive was closed because a tractor-trailer was losing fuel.

Another accident occurred on Interstate 78 in Union Township in Hunterdon County and on Route 33 in Millstone, according to Della Fave.

He advises motorists to slow down during slick conditions.
