Winona Ryder Feeling Well After Being Taken Ill On Flight

Wednesday morning, actress Winona Ryder was admitted to a west London hospital after she became ill during a flight from Los Angeles to London. Due to her having fallen ill, the captain of flight requested a priority landing on Heathrow airport, where doctors were on stand by, waiting to provide medical care to Ryder.

A spokesman for British Airways stated that the captain of BA282, a flight travelling from Los Angeles to London, requested a priority landing because a female passenger was in need of medical assistance.

Before the plane landed, the flight crew looked after Ryder, while members of the passenger service staff went at the London hospital with her.

Winona Ryder, 37, was discharged from the hospital the same day, a spokeswoman for the star having informed that the actress was in good health and that the hospitalization had only been a „precautionary measure.”

Hollywood actress Winona Ryder, born Winona Laura Horowitz, began her acting career back in 1986, when she made her on-screen debut in the movie „Lucas,” which was released on March 28 that year. Directed by David Seltzer, the production ranked number 16 on Entertainment Weekly's list of the 50 Best High School Movies.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t until 1988 that Ryder gained critical recognition, when she portrayed Goth teenager Lydia Deetz in the movie „Beetlejuice.” Tim Burton’s comedy horror film also starred actors Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones and Michael Keaton, who played the Beetlejuice character.

One year later, Winona Ryder was cast in „Heathers,” where she played Veronica, a wanna-be popular girl who becomes involved with Jason Dean (Christian Slater) about the same time the girls whom she tries to befriend but actually hates begin showing up dead, their deaths being deemed as suicides.

The role of Veronica earned Ryder much critical acclaim and established her as a Hollywood household name.

During the 1990s, Winona Ryder won a string of awards including a Golden Globe Award and an NRB one for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in „The Age of Innocence” (in 1993), and a KCFCC Award for Best Actress for her role in „Little Women” (1994).

In the year 2000, she received a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California.

As for her personal life, Winona Ryder was engaged to actor Johnny Depp for a period of three years, beginning July 1990, having afterwards been involved with alternative rock band Soul Asylum's Dave Pirner and actor Matt Damon.

Since 2007, Ryder had been dating Blake Sennett, the couple having only recently broken up.

In 2001, the actress was arrested on shoplifting charges in Beverly Hills, having been accused of stealing $5,500 worth of designer clothes and accessories at a Saks Fifth Avenue department store. In December 2002, the court sentenced her to three years' probation, 480 hours of community service, $3,700 in fines and $6,355 in restitution to the aforementioned store.
