Actress Winona Ryder reported a Bulgari diamond-incrusted bracelet and ring missing after allegedly handing them in to her hotel’s front desk in a sealed envelope to be kept in the venue’s safe, according to a French magazine. The Pink Panther was loaned the bracelet and ring to wear during a Marie Claire event held in Madrid on Sunday, November 23. She also got a dress, shoes and some other items to wear during the event. According to reports, the jewels are said to be worth $125,000.
However, the review of security-camera footage doesn’t show Winona handing the jewelry to the front desk.
So far, Bulgari Jewelers have neither confirmed or denied the disappearance of the hugely expensive items.
According to TMZ, after looking for Marie Claire employees in the lobby, Ryder simply left the jewelry in her room, checking out of the hotel at 6:00 am. TMZ’s sources suggest that the bracelet and the ring might be missing from the star’s room, claiming Winona checked out of the hotel the following day after the event and left all the loaned stuff in her room as "no one from Marie Claire was around to collect" them. Sources confirm the bracelet and the ring did turn up missing, while the dress and other items weren’t taken.
Winona was hospitalized in London on November 19 after becoming ill during her overseas flight.
Winona Ryder is well known for her roles in "Little Women" and "Girl, Interrupted." She was nominated twice for an Academy Award for "The Age of Innocence" and "Little Women." Ryder also appears in the "Star Trek" movie due out in 2009.
