Wing Commander Arena and Super Contra Coming on XBLA

Microsoft announced that EA’s Wing Commander Arena and Konami’s Super Contra will be coming this week on Xbox Live Arcade, but they will not be the oldies, but goodies some of you know.

Wing Commander has a whole new look and feel: while you’ll still meet the infamous Kilrathi enemies, the perspective now modified to give you the feeling of an overhead view. Wing Commander will also be the first online game sold on Xbox Live Arcade that will support up to 16 players simultaneously over Xbox Live and players will get to choose from 18 different ships that can be customized with cloaking devices, mines, energy weapons, missiles and more.

There are four gameplay modes: Single Player, Multiplayer Team, Free for All, and Duel, all based on skill-matchmaking.

Playing Wing Commander will cost you 800 Microsoft points but you can win 12 achievements and 200 Gamerscore points.

Super Contra will cost you less (400 Microsoft points) but you’ll still be able to earn 12 achievements and 200 Gamerscore points, which…kinda makes it more attractive.

Of course, the shortcoming for a cheaper game is that you only get two player modes: the single player or the co-op mode, where you get to choose whether to play locally with a friend on the same Xbox 360, or online, over Xbox Live.

Anyways, we’re looking forward Puzzle Fighter…
