Windows Vista SP1 To Be Released On Monday?

According to a Malaysian site, TechArp, Microsoft is almost ready with its Windows Vista Service Pack 1. The site claims that on Monday, February 4, Microsoft will released Windows Vista SP1 RTM (Release To Manufacture).

In the software world, the RTM defines the version that will be burned on the distribution discs. This means that the software will be generally available within days or weeks.

TechArp also claims that the version of Windows Vista SP1 that will be released on Monady includes only five languages, English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese.

Windows Vista SP1 with support for the other 31 languages will be released later, in 1- 2 weeks.

Last month, there were rumors and speculations that the final version of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will be released on February 14, but Microsoft declined to comment.

Previously the company announced that the Service Pack 1 will be released until the end of the first quarter of 2008.

On January 24, Microsoft released a new release candidate for Windows Vista Service Pack 1, called “RC Refresh 2” to an exclusive group of 15,000 private beta testers.

According to Microsoft, Windows Vista SP1 will not add new features, but instead it will address key feedback received from its customers. In addition, the company insisted that the SP1 would not affect any applications that are currently running on Windows Vista.

Windows Vista SP1 will be available for download from Microsoft's Web site and it will be also offered through Windows Update, Microsoft Update and probably Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

So far, Microsoft has sold over 100 million copies of Windows Vista, since its launch in November 2006.
