Saturday Night Live has definitely played an important role in this year’s electoral campaign, surprising its audience with clever political satire and surprise appearances from presidential candidates.
It is rumored that John McCain, the republican presidential candidate, will follow in the trail opened by Sarah Palin who appeared on the show and, generally, made a good impression. Saturday Night Live is the show where Tina Fey successfully impersonates the Alaskan governor, making the gig a big time hit.
When Sarah Palin appeared on SNL the show managed to raise record ratings and with Fey’s hilarious impersonations, some can say that the 2008 electoral campaign managed to put the show back on its feet.
It s also rumored that the other candidate, Barack Obama, will make a surprise guest appearance on Saturday Night Live, which will definitely raise ratings and, most important, maybe give the voters another chance to take their decisions based on the comparison between the two. John McCain had his connections with Saturday Night Live as, back in 2002, the republican candidate hosted an episode of the series. On the other hand, times have changed and McCain’s electoral campaign constantly encountered draw-back and uninspired comments.
It is unclear if the rumors of McCain’s appearance tomorrow night at the Saturday Night Live show are real or not. This makes the show to be even more anticipated and it certain that many Americans will tune in tomorrow night hoping the rumor comes true. John McCain needs to make a good impression as recently, Barack Obama’s “infomercial” campaign managed to raise record ratings.
