During an interview with the MTV , Kirsten Dunst was asked about her intentions regarding the future Spider Man projects and whether she would rejoin director Sam Raimi and series star Tobey Maguire for Spiderman 4 and 5.
Dunst replied that she would reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson now that her director and co-star have agreed to return. I’m in,” she said in her interview. But the strangest thing is that when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst hesitated: “I’m not saying anything; I know there’s rumors…”
Maybe this is her own way of saying she hadn’t really consulted anybody on the matter and her talking just or the sake of it may not be too productive.
In the past, Dunst has said she'd only be interested in returning to the franchise if co-star Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi were on board. But now rumour has it that the film’s fans aren’t that fond of her. So the situation is rather ambiguous. Does the Raimi-Maguire due want her? Does she really want them? Do fans like her?
The studio is targeting a May 2011 release for the fourth motion picture of the series.
Kirsten Dunst made her debut in 1994 in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles alongside such stars as Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination, the MTV Award for Best Breakthrough Performance and the Saturn award for Best Young Actress. However 2000 was Kirsten's biggest year yet - she received good reviews for her role as Lux Lisbon in Sofia Coppola's Independent film The Virgin Suicides in 1999.
