Will Ferrell will reportedly take his funny-as-hell Bush impressions on Broadway. The famous comedian will appear in the new solo comedy “You're Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush.”
The show will be directed by Adam McKay, who also wrote and directed Ferrell’s “Step Brothers,” “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.” Although the plot of the new movie remains blurry, the title indicates a good comedy with plenty of good humor.
Ferrell and McKay also teamed up on US TV show Saturday Night Live and are both founders of comedy website Funny and Die.
The production of “You're Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush” will open to the wide public on 1 February at the Cort Theatre. Previews will be available beginning with 20 January. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are expected to write the show’s script.
The show will mark Will Ferrell’s Broadway debut.
The movie has everything it needs so far to be a hit. Ferrell’s impressions of President Bush was watched 5.5 million times on YouTube.
Not many details are available on the show at the moment. According to The New York Post, the show will “be autobiographical and include anecdotes about the comedian’s work on ‘Saturday Night Live.’”
