Wii Fii And Balance Board: A New Chapter in Gaming?

It is already a well known fact that the success of Nintendo Wii is based mainly on how the Japanese company managed to reinvent the gaming with its Wii-mote, the game controller shaped like a TV remote that helps gamers to interact with the virtual reality.

However, it seems like for Nintendo the Wii-mote wasn’t enough. Now the company has come up with a new accessory that will probably revolutionize not only the gaming, but also the fitness world.

Shaped like a household body scale with a white top and grey bottom, Wii Balance Board connects wireless to Nintendo’s Wii and it contains pressures sensors used to control the virtual movements. Also, the sensors are used to measure the user's center of mass and body mass index.
The Wii Balance Board was created specifically for Nintendo’s Wii Fit, a training game which includes as much as 40 different activities.

The training activities fall into four fitness categories: Aerobic Exercise (10-minute exercises that are designed to get the heart pumping), Muscle Conditioning (Controlled motions using arms, legs and other body parts), Yoga Poses (Classic poses that focus on balance and stretching), and Balance Games (Fun activities, such as ski jumping and heading soccer balls, which challenge the player’s overall body balance).

However, there are already third-party publishers that are already interested to release new games, especially created to use the Wii Balance Board. NAMCO BANDAI Games America has already created We Ski, a skiing game, that can be played with the Balance Board.

Earlier this month, Electronic Arts has announced Skate It, a game from the Skate franchise, that will include support for the famous Wii Balance board. Also there are rumors, that Electronic Arts is preparing for this autumn, Boogie Superstar, a sequel to its Boogie game, that will also take advantage of the Wii Balance Board.

In April, Ubisoft has released a trailer for its upcoming Rayman Raving Rabbids 3, hinting that the game will also use the Balance Board.

THQ confirmed for this autumn All Star Cheer Squad, a cheerleading video game and first THQ’s original property created specifically for girls.

So, it seems like the Balance Board will be quite popular this autumn.
