The romantic comedy Why Did I Get Married? directed by the comedian and director Tyler
Perry has debuted in the first place in the weekend box-office rankings.
According to the estimates released by Lionsgate Filme, the
movie earned $21.5 million in revenue and knocked The Game Plan to the second
place.
Based on Tyler Perry’s hit play and starring the pop diva
Janet Jackson, Why Did I Get Married? is about the lives of four couples
who share their annual winter holiday.
After a two week ends reign, The Game Plans, starring Dwayne
“The Rock” Johnson, has recorded only $11.5 million.
Clooney's legal drama "Michael Clayton" has came
in the third place after it opened nationwide, while the new drama We Own The
Night with Joaqin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg opened on the fourth place.
Under
alias Bobby Green (Joaquin Phoenix) manages a Brooklyn
nightclub owned by Russian Marat Bujayev (Moni Moshonov), a haven for drug
dealers.
In a rather disappointing debut, the sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age starring
Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush has achieved only the seventh place with $6
million in sales, one million behind Ben Stiller’s latest comedy, The
Heartbreak Kid.
According to Box Office Mojo the Top 10 also included The
Kingdom $4.57 million; Across the Universe $4 million; Resident Evil:
Extinction $2.65 million; and The Seeker: The Dark is Rising $2.15 million.
