The funny actress Whoopi Goldberg
has been officially confirmed as the new moderator of the ABC’s famous talk
show “The View”. It has been Barbara Walters, the co-host and executive
producer of the show, who has made the public announcement at the end of
yesterday’s episode of the talk show.
When the announcement has been
made live, Whoopi Goldberg has jogged down the aisle of the studio and she has
slapped hands with the public. She has then said she has always been a fan of
the show and she loves “coming on it” and “hanging out with” its audience and
co-hosts. The actress, who is known for her liberal politics, as well as for
her roles in comedies and dramas, has been the guest of “The View” for 13 times
till now. She has also served as the guest co-host of the talk show for 14
times.
"It's a show I like with
people I like and I'm looking forward to it," Goldberg said.
Whoopi Goldberg is one of the few
actors that have won an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, a Tony Award, as well as
a Grammy Award. In fact there are only ten people in this world who have won
all these prizes in a single life (Mel Brooks, Helen Hayes, Audrey Hepburn,
Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli and others)! She has remarked herself through
acting, comedy, writing and also radio DJ-ing. And she hasn’t missed television
either!
Anyway, starting with the 4th
of September Whoopi Goldberg will be replacing Rosie O’Donnell as the moderator
of the eleventh season of “The View”. After weighing for several months how to
fill O’Donnell’s departure, the show’s producers have seemed to agree that
Goldberg will fit the show best.
"I have known Whoopi for
years," Barbara Walters, "The View" executive producer, said in
a statement. "She is brilliant, funny and irrepressible and is an
enormously popular and talented star. We are delighted that she is going to
join the program as our moderator."
