Authorities in Harwich, Massachusetts are currently
conducting a peculiar investigation, as they are trying to find out how a
perfectly functional piano ended up in the middle of the Bells Neck woods.
The Baldwin Acrosonic piano, model number 987, which is in very
good working conditions and apparently also in tune, was discovered Saturday at
3 p.m by a woman who was walking a trail in the woods. Police revealed that in
front of the mystery piano (serial number 733746), someone had placed a bench,
so that they made it look like the instrument was about to be or had been played.
Sergeant Adam Hutton of the Harwich Police Department stated
that all the other police departments in the Cape Cod area had been notified of
the finding in the woods and urged to look for clues in order to solve the
puzzle.
The piano was discovered at the end of a dirt road, near the
trail towards a a footbridge in the middle of a conservation land, from where authorities
moved it into storage. Since it took more that a half dozen men to lift and
carry the mysterious piano, police believe that it was also placed in the woods
by more than one person.
