Whitney Houston made quite a dazzling comeback when she took on the stage at a pre-Grammy party and honored her mentor, Clive Davis, the night before the much expected Grammy Awards.
Sunday morning, Houston, looking amazing in a curve-hugging leopard dress, sang a line from one of her biggest hits „I’m Every Woman,” proving everybody that she was in top-shape and ready to reclaim her diva status.
A few years ago, the singer’s erratic behavior and tumultuous life rife with drug issues pushed Whitney Houston on a downwards spiraling path, which managed to get her written off as a fallen from grace figure.
Jamie Foxx, who stood at the front of the stage taking video of Houston like your average fan, said that they had all crossed her fingers for Whitney and hoped for a happy ending of her bleak story.
Whitney’s performance at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party in Beverly Hills, California, was the icing on the concert cake, which also included appearances by Kelly Clarkson, a duet between Jennifer Hudson and Barry Manilow and a monologue by Kanye West.
Among the stars present for the event were Sir Paul McCartney, Prince, Diddy, Rihanna, the Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift and Quincy Jones.
Clive Davis, the music mogul who founded several labels and signed stars such as Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen and Houston, while he also helped revive the careers of Rod Stewart and Carlos Santana, was honored by the Recording Academy as an industry icon late Saturday before the Grammy Awards.
