What Will Jobs Announce At WWDC?

With WWDC just days away, the time for our favorite game “Guess-what-Steve-Jobs-will announce” has come.

Although this year the fun is not the same, because we all expect that Jobs will unveil the next generation of iPhone, the long-rumored 3G iPhone. Still, no one knows how the new iPhone will look like and this means that there is room for some new rumors and speculations.

The Web is buzzing that along with the 3G capabilities, Apple will bring to its iconic iPhone some new features like GPS, new colors, a new slimmer design and maybe even more memory, possibly 64 GB.

Also some analysts are speculating that this new iPhone could be a lot cheaper than its “ancestor” and price tags like $199 were mentioned in various reports about what to expect at this years’ WWDC.

In fact it seems like 3G or not, the iPhone will be the main attraction of the event, because it is very likely that Jobs will unveil the final version of iPhone SDK.

Released in March, the iPhone SDK has already reached its sixth beta version and I bet that Jobs will have some new cool, applications for the iPhone to demonstrate while onstage.

Three months ago, EA and SEGA have unveiled new games for iPhone. EA presented a version of Spore, the upcoming game from Will Wright, the mastermind behind games like The Sims and SimCity. SEGA released a version of Super Monkey Ball, a game that first appeared on Nintendo's GameCube console. So let’s see what Jobs has prepared for us this time.

Letting aside the iPhone, it seems like Jobs will offer a sneak peek of the next version of Mac OS X 10.6, which will probably be released sometimes in early 2009.

Last month, at the All Things Digital Conference, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer have offered a glimpse of Windows 7, which apparently will offer multitouch features. It will be interesting to see how and if Jobs will respond to this.

And speaking of multitouch, there are some rumors that Jobs could unveil some kind of sub-notebook with a touch screen. Of course, it will be cool to see a new device form Apple, but let’s keep in mind that the rumors are...nothing but rumors.

Some observers said that Apple also appears to be poised to upgrade its .Mac service for synchronizing and backing up multiple devices over the Internet, along with giving it a new name, such as Mobile Me.

As you see, there are plenty of things to announce, but only on Monday we will see if the rumor mill was right.
