For the past days, Kindle 2 is all we’ve been reading about, and I for one am quite sick of it, first of all because Amazon could have done a better job, and second, because Kindle is not the only e-reader on the market, nor is it the best.
At the end of the day, we are what we read, and such a device is needed (although I do prefer a real book). But since there’s no other way than going along with the technology, I’m at crossroads here: should I go buy Kindle 2, or look for another reader?
I’ve said this before, although back then Kindle 2 was just a picture leaked on the Internet: Amazon really needs to get something done with that horrific design. Because we are talking of a second generation product, I would like to take time and notify Amazon of something: TOUCH-SCREEN HAS BEEN INVENTED!!!
And this is where Sony’s PSR-700 comes in! Frankly, putting them next to each other only creates one effect: Sony - goooood, Kindle – buttons, buttons, buttons, 5-way controller, small screen. I know it’s not all about design, but come on, that’s the first thing one notices!
The advantage written all over Kindle 2’s face is that users have access to an enormous library of titles, but even so, that doesn’t convince me one bit to go out and buy it. I think I’ll just get back to my regular books then…
